  • Volunteers Needed                                                                                   

Would you like to give back to your community and become part of a family of volunteers? Catholic Community Services’ Feed the Hungry program prepares and serves a hot, nutritious lunch for an average of 80 people each day, 6 days a week in Aberdeen. All types of volunteer positions are available. Training and a Food Handler’s card are provided. No experience is necessary.   •  Event/Dorothy Anderson Cabin @ Seabrook                     

The historic 91 year old Dorothy Anderson Cabin in Seabrook is open to the public every other Saturday. A museum member from Museum of the North Beach in Moclips and volunteer Patsy Ohlen, will be on hand to greet visitors from 11am to 3pm. The cabin has been fully restored and inside are Dorothy’s personal items and several period artifacts from many donors, giving visitors the chance to step back in time. Heart & Hands Pregnancy Care Center has been on The Harbor for 30 years, helping women deal with pregnancy; offering positive, healthy options for women in difficult situations. They lend out Baby cloths and help with diapers for struggling mothers. They are accepting gently used cloths, especially war jackets and could always use more diapers. North Beach PAWS has the largest continuous garage sale in Grays Harbor and it’s every Sat. from 10am-4pm. Donations arrive every week! The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a non-profit group, is offering Free Rapier fencing practice every Thursday starting April 13th at 5pm at the Hoquiam Library, field behind parking lot or covered parking garage in bad weather. There will be a safety officer on site, instruction and loaner gear available, public welcome.

  •  Grief Group                                                                                        

Grief Share, a special help seminar and support group for people experiencing grief and loss, will be held on Thursdays at 1:30 pm and 7 pm, which is hosted by the Montesano Church of God. Grief Share features nationally recognized experts on grief recovery topics. There are 13 sessions in total and the Seminar sessions include “Is This Normal?”, “The Challenges of Grief”, “Grief and Your Relationships”, “Why?”, and “Guilt and Anger.” They are also doing a special for the Holidays called “Surviving the Holidays”. Those meetings will be held just before the Holiday and will be a one day 3 hour special. Meetings will be held at 317 East Spruce Ave. in Montesano. Used books, CD’s, videos and puzzles are for sale at the Hoquiam Timberland every Tues, Thurs and Sat from 10:30am to 1:30pm, 420 7th Street in Hoquiam.  All proceeds benefit the Children’s Library. Therapy Dogs of Grays Harbor is a group of local volunteers working in partnership with their dogs to improve the quality of life for people in schools, libraries, hospitals and nursing homes. Therapy Dog meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30pm in the downstairs meeting room of the Montesano Library. Also at 5:30pm on Thursdays to walk around friends landing. “Grays Harbor Civil Defense: is about family, community, security and action” in the face of potential events to community welfare. We are Grays Harbor County residents looking to work together as needed to prepare our families, friends and communities for potential emergencies.
