A reminder that starting tomorrow the Elma Safety Rest Area on the eastbound side of route 8 will be closed for maintenance and repairs. The department of transportation says the scheduled annual closure will be starting tomorrow May 3rd and will go until Wednesday May 4th from 7am until 4pm both days. Crews will be doing a deep cleaning of the restrooms, picking up litter, clearing any overgrown vegetation and making any needed repairs.
