Sheriff Michael Whelan passed away on January 27th in Montesano due to an unexpected medical event. Whelan was hired as a deputy in the sheriff’s office in 1977. He held several ranks and served in many different roles during his 35-year career. He was elected Grays Harbor County Sheriff in 1999 and retired in 2012.
A service to celebrate Michael’s life will be held this Friday at 1pm at the Montesano Church of God.
