State lawmaker resigns his position with only three months left in his term. State Senator Kevin Van De Wege issued a letter to the governor on Wednesday saying in part “It has been the honor of my life to serve in the Legislature these past 18 years, but it is time for me to move on.” The 50 year old democrat represents the 24th legislative district which includes Grays Harbor. Van De Wege lost his bid for Land Commissioner in the August Primary. Democratic state Rep. Mike Chapman and Republican Marcia Kelbon are running for the seat held by Van De Wig on November 5th.
