A timber theft south of Cosmopolis ended in an arrest yesterday after deputies caught a man taking scrap wood off Weyerhaeuser land. Deputies Arrington and Jackson found him near Highway 101 and hauled him in on trespassing and theft charges. The sheriff’s office says this isn’t an isolated case, illegal dumping and thefts are on the rise across local timberlands. They say it’s not just the companies that lose out, but the local economy and the safety of those working in the woods.
