Part of next week WSDOT says the State Route 8 rest area in Elma will be closed for seasonal maintenance. Grays Hsarbor Scanner reports The Elma Safety Rest Area on the eastbound side of the highway will be having annual repair work done from Tuesday May 9th until Thursday May 11th and during that time restrooms will be closed. Crews will work to make needed repairs, clean up overgrown vegetation and deep clean the inside of that facility. The next available rest stop is 30 miles away in Thurston County.
