Hoquiam’s interim police chief has now been appointed to the position permanently.
It’s official, Hoquiam’s interim police chief has now been appointed to the position permanently. Joe Strong previously served at the deputy chief before the retirement of former chief Jeff Myers over the summer. Mayor Winkelman’s appointment of Strong this week had the full backing of city council. As Strong moves up so do two other officers. Jeff Salstrom and Brian Dayton were promoted to Lieutenants which will serve as a replacement to the deputy chief position. Three other Hoquiam officers were promoted to sergeants this week. In a post to social media Chief Strong said he will continue to build on the foundation former chief Myers built.
