A Washington State Patrol trooper was killed while on duty Friday night at the scene of a crash in Tacoma. Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting was outside her patrol vehicle on State Route 509 near the Port of Tacoma when she was struck. Life-saving efforts were attempted at the scene, but she was pronounced dead there. Tacoma Police Department is investigating, and officials say this marks the 34th line-of-duty death in Washington State Patrol history.
