Anglers caught more Chinook than expected.
Ocean salmon fishing off the Long Beach Peninsula is now shut down after anglers caught more Chinook than expected. The closure covers Marine Area 1, roughly from the mouth of the Columbia north and within about three miles of shore. Bank fishing from the North Jetty is still open. Fish and Wildlife says the early closure could help save enough Chinook quota to reopen more salmon fishing later this season.
