The Port of Grays Harbor will begin the cleanup process later this summer at the site of the Hungry Whale Grocery store where thousands of gallons of fuel leached into the soil almost 4 decided ago. THe Daily World reports workers were digging test samples of soil this week to see how deep the contamination goes. By August, crews will begin to dig out about 350 big dump trucks worth of soil and fill in with new clean dirt. The land will then be made for redevelopment. Ecologists will test the land after the cleanup to see if any further action is necessary.
