Two Felons Arrested After Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Firearm Seizures

At approximately 3:27 p.m. on September 26, 2026, an Aberdeen Police officer monitoring traffic on South Boone Street observed a black 2006 Infiniti traveling 48 mph in a posted 35 mph zone.

The vehicle was also unlicensed and displayed an expired trip permit. The officer conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of South Boone Street.

The driver, a 45-year-old Sumner, Washington, resident, was identified and found to have a suspended driver's license. He was arrested without incident.

The passenger, a 33-year-old Auburn, Washington, resident, was also identified after officers determined he was not wearing a seatbelt. Records checks revealed that both men were convicted felons.

As the passenger exited the vehicle, officers observed what appeared to be a high-capacity rifle magazine between his legs. Officers also saw the stock of a rifle in the back seat.

Both men were transported to the Aberdeen City Jail, while the vehicle was towed to the Aberdeen Police Department. Officers subsequently obtained a search warrant for the vehicle.

During the booking process, officers discovered that the passenger was wearing the back portion of a ballistic vest.

After executing the search warrant, officers located a semiautomatic rifle in the back seat. The front portion of the ballistic vest was found on the front passenger-side floorboard, with a 9mm firearm located inside a compartment of the vest.

Officers also recovered approximately 72 grams of cocaine from the vehicle.

Both subjects were booked into the Aberdeen City Jail on charges of being felons in possession of firearms and possession of a controlled substance.

The Aberdeen Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing.
