Washington State Parks Lowering Water Level At Lake Sylvia

The nearly 100-year-old structure was rated an Emergency Level 1 earlier this year and is in need of maintenance.

Washington State Parks says it's lowering the water level at Lake Sylvia by five feet today to ease pressure on the aging dam. The nearly 100-year-old structure was rated an Emergency Level 1 earlier this year and is in need of maintenance. Lowering the water to a more stable height will allow continued recreation while crews monitor the dam and plan next steps. Boaters and swimmers may see temporary impacts, but the park remains open for hiking, biking, and camping.
