Several park improvement projects in Hoquiam have been given the go ahead by city council. This week the city approved recommendations by the lodging tax committee to a lot just over $62,000 of an available $87,000 for projects around town. Old Canary Park and John Gable Park will have repaving and needed improvement work done while The Olympic Stadium Baseball Field will also get some needed upgrades. All the funds come from a 2 percent tax on hotel, motel, and camping stays and all the money goes back to support tourism in town.
