Grays Harbor PUD is issuing a stark warning to thieves who are stealing wire and other electrical materials. In a Tuesday press release, PUD officials say the high voltage these thieves are putting themselves at risk in coming in contact with is enough to seriously hurt, or even kill them. The message went on to say that theft of electrical wiring and equipment is nothing new, but the number of cases in the last two months is way more than normal. In Aberdeen and Hoquiam alone more than two dozen poles have had the protective covers cut away and the grounding wires cut out. The PUD says if you witness the theft or vandalism of utility equipment or facilities, to call 9-1-1 and report it to police.
