Grays Harbor County Auditor’s Office Loses Vehicle and Vessel Licensing Contract Following State Breach Notice

The Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) has issued a Level III Breach notice to the Grays Harbor County Auditor’s Office, prompting the termination of its vehicle and vessel licensing contract.

In response, the Board of County Commissioners, in partnership with the DOL, has appointed Sam Kim, the County Administrator, as the new vehicle and vessel licensing agent. Kim will take on these responsibilities in addition to his current role, with a focus on ensuring uninterrupted service for the public and licensing partners.

County officials stressed that existing subagents will continue their operations without interruption. “Ensuring continuity of service remains our top priority,” said the Board. “All efforts are being made to prevent any disruption during this transition.”

The County is collaborating closely with the DOL to meet all audit and compliance requirements throughout the process. Officials also affirmed their commitment to maintaining high operational standards in preparation for the eventual return of licensing duties to the County Auditor’s Office.

“We are focused on a smooth and responsible transition that maintains the level of service our community expects,” said Commissioner Georgia Miller, Chair of the Board of County Commissioners. “We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our partners and the public as we move through this process.”
