Maintenance dredging is now underway in portions of Grays Harbor, with work scheduled to continue 24/7 through May 30. Crews began operations April 8, using specialized vessels to clear sediment from key areas. The Army Corp of Engineers says the process ensures deep enough channels for large ocean-going ships to safely access the Port of Grays Harbor. Officials say regular dredging is essential to keeping maritime commerce moving and supporting the state’s economy.
