North Cove Gets Millions In Fed Funding

Nearly $13 million in federal funding to help protect one of the fastest-eroding shorelines in the country.

North Cove’s battle with erosion is getting a major boost, nearly $13 million in federal funding to help protect one of the fastest-eroding shorelines in the country. The Pacific Conservation District tells the Daily World the project will rebuild the beach using rocks, wood, and native plants to slow waves and restore natural balance. It’s part of a NOAA-backed climate resilience effort meant to protect homes, cranberry farms, and nearby highways. Construction is expected to start in 2028 after permits are finalized.
