Testing is going on this month at the Stafford Creek Corrections Center to assess tuberculosis exposure and transmission by both staff and inmates at the facility. As of a recent press release there were 11 known cases of active TB, and corrections officials say they are undergoing treatment at this time. Initial testing was offered in January and again just last week. Health officials say a reaction to a TB test takes time and those who were evaluated in January may need a follow up. The CDC is involved and will determine if a third round of testing is needed. All affected staff and inmates and their families have received letters advising them of their status.
