The Baltimore bridge disaster is prompting concerns about a Longview span and other Washington crossings. Senator Jeff Wilson says the destruction of Key Bridge should serve as a wake-up call. The Longview Republican plans to introduce a bill to study the vulnerability of Washington bridges to impacts from large ships. Wilson is particularly concerned about the 95-year-old Lewis and Clark bridge over the Columbia River in Longview. When a freighter struck the Spokane Street Bridge in 1978, it impacted traffic for the next six years.
