City Of Aberdeen Is Reaping The Benefits Of High Cost Of Timber

Unanimous vote allowed the mayor to sign a deal with Chehalis Valley Timber.

The city of Aberdeen is reaping the benefits of the high cost of timber right now.  At last Wednesday’s council meeting, a unanimous vote allowed the mayor to sign a deal with Chehalis Valley Timber to sell roughly 948 thousand board feet of timber for just over $290,000.  City leaders say sealed bids came in last month and the trees to be harvested are in the Lake Aberdeen Watershed.  The city had budgeted for this timber sale, but only for $180,000.  The final price was almost 65 percent or about $110,000 more than what the city had anticipated.
