E-Scooters Proposal In Aberdeen

The scooters could be picked up and dropped off throughout town.

Electric scooters could soon hit the streets of Aberdeen.  This week the city council heard a proposal from Bird Rides Inc. to bring in up to 50 e-scooters to be an eco-friendly way to get around town.  There would be no cost to the city and the user would pay a $1 “unlock” fee and around .40 cents per minute they use the scooter, and it would all be controlled by the Bird Rides smartphone app.  The scooters could be picked up and dropped off throughout town.  The company is proposing a 12-month trial that could start as early as this summer.  The public Works Committee is reviewing the proposal.
