Grays Harbor Convicted Killer Could Be Released From Prison In Coming Years

Brian Bassett received 28 years in prison for the murder of his mother, father and 5-year-old brother in McCleary back in 1995.

A Grays Harbor convicted killer could be released from prison in the coming years. Thurston County Judge Sharonda Amamilo handed down a re-sentencing Thursday that amounts Brian Bassett receiving 28 years in prison for the murder of his mother, father and 5-year-old brother in McCleary back in 1995. Since Bassett has served 25 years of that sentence so far, he could be released in the next few years.  The resentencing was a result of a 2012 Supreme Court ruling that said giving a juvenile a life sentence was unconstitutional.  Bassett’s Sister had testified that she wanted her brother to remain locked up and believed if she had been home the days of the murders, she would’ve been killed too.
