The Hoquiam Police Department has introduced a new officer to the force. Officer Isreal “Izzy” Fernandez was welcomed in last week following 5 and a half months at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Academy. While at the academy, officer Fernandez was selected as class president and praised for his organizational skills by academy command staff. Prior to becoming a patrol officer, Fernandez worked for two years in the jail as a Police Services Officer. He will now begin his twelve-week field training with certified field training officers.
