The City of Elma will have a new mayor in 2024. That news comes after current mayor Jim Sorensen has announced he will not run for a third term in office. The Daily World reports the mayor of one of the fastest growing cities in the region says one of the reason’s he will not run again is he believes the city can benefit from new ideas and new leadership every few years. Mayor Sorensen was first elected in November of 2015. He joins a list of other local leaders who say they will not seek another term in office including the mayors of Aberdeen, Montesano and Cosmopolis. Online candidate filing in Washington State begins May15th.
