The Montesano Fire Department has received a $220,000 federal grant to purchase 40 sets of protective bunker gear and a specialized dryer.

The Montesano Fire Department has received a $220,000 federal grant to purchase 40 sets of protective bunker gear and a specialized dryer. Fire Chief David Busz announced the award during Tuesday’s City Council meeting and credited Capt. Alex Chamberlin with securing the funding. The grant comes through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The new dryer will help crews thoroughly decontaminate their gear, return it to service faster and reduce damage caused by repeated cleaning and drying.
