Pacific County SORT was training nearby on Friday when they got the call to help search for a missing hiker in Eden Valley. 42 year old Katherine Luss had separated from her spouse while hiking Thursday evening and didn’t return, prompting a large search effort involving teams from multiple counties and the Coast Guard. A Coast Guard helicopter spotted her around 10:22 a.m. Friday, and search teams escorted her out of the woods, where she declined medical attention. Wahkiakum County Search and Rescue thanked the many teams that responded, saying they were grateful for a successful outcome.
