Water main flushing will start next week in Aberdeen and Hoquiam. The cities do this system maintenance on a regular basis and during the flushing process large amounts of water may be released from fire hydrants into the streets. The flushing process will stir up sediment in the lines that may cause a slight discoloration in the water. Public works officials say it is not harmful and you should run water from an outside faucet or bathtub for a few minutes until the water turns clear again. Water line flushing in both cities will get started Monday.
