Four kayakers had to be rescued this week from Elk River near Bay City. The Daily World says A 911 call came in Wednesday night after one person in the group overturned and the group was stranded on the tide flats. The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s office responded to the scene but also contact the Coast Guard for help since the area was marshy. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Astoria responded to the scene and made the rescue by 10pm. One person was taken to the hospital for hypothermia.
