Amazon Web Services Cable Connecting Washington & Japan

A major internet connection between Washington and Asia is taking shape near Ocean Shores.

A major internet connection between Washington and Asia is taking shape near Ocean Shores. The Quinault Indian Nation has broken ground on a cable landing station that can handle up to four undersea fiber systems. The first will be an Amazon Web Services cable connecting Washington and Japan, with service expected in 2029. The facility will then link those cables to networks reaching Seattle and Oregon. It’s believed to be the nation’s first tribally owned and operated cable landing station.
