Long-Awaited Flood Protection Project In Hoquiam One Step Closer

Hoquiam expects to sign the agreement by the end of September

A long-awaited flood protection project in Hoquiam is moving closer to construction. The city has been cleared to finalize nearly $40.5 million in federal and state funding for improvements to the North Shore Levee West. The project is designed to protect homes, businesses and critical infrastructure, while eventually helping some property owners escape costly flood insurance requirements. Hoquiam expects to sign the agreement by the end of September and put the construction work out for bid before year’s end.
