The Washington State Department of Emergency Management has announced that as of the first of July, all of Washington State supports text to 9-1-1. Although emergency officials say it’s always better to call 9-1-1 to report an emergency by voice, the new upgraded network allows a person to send a text to 9-1-1 that will get seen almost immediately. Developers say its basic SMS texting, so no photos or videos can be sent but they are working on live text chat to 9-1-1 which should be available by the end of the year.
