A portion of Middle Satsop Road in eastern Grays Harbor County has been closed due to road damage and safety concerns.
MONTESANO, Wash. — A portion of Middle Satsop Road in eastern Grays Harbor County has been closed due to road damage and safety concerns.
According to the Grays Harbor County Public Works Department, Middle Satsop Road is closed from milepost 3.0 to milepost 3.3 effective Friday morning. The closure will remain in place until further notice.
County officials say the area has been closely monitored in recent weeks because of pavement distress and visible roadway deformation. Maintenance crews had taken steps to reduce the impact of the damage, but recent heavy rainfall and ongoing streambank erosion near the roadway caused additional settling, making the road unsafe for travel.
Public Works crews are now evaluating repair options to determine how best to restore the affected stretch of roadway.
In the meantime, all traffic is being detoured to East Satsop Road.
There is currently no estimated timeline for reopening Middle Satsop Road. County officials say updates will be released as more information becomes available.
