Multiple departments responded to a duplex fire yesterday in Aberdeen. The call came in just after noon about a structure fire on West Market Street. When fire crews arrived, they were told the was no one inside either unit. Fire fighters from Aberdeen and Hoquiam were able to get the blaze under control within about 15 minutes, limiting the damage. Officials say although the fire was contained to just one unit, the 2nd unit sustained smoke damage. There were no reports of injuries to any fire personnel and the damage was estimated at $50,000. A press release says here were no working smoke detectors in either unit. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
