Hoquiam is getting an early start on National Night Out, becoming one of the first local agencies to announce plans for this year's event on Tuesday, Aug. 4. The Hoquiam Police Department is encouraging neighborhoods to host block parties and community gatherings as part of the nationwide crime prevention event. National Night Out is designed to bring neighbors together, strengthen relationships with local law enforcement, and build safer communities. Anyone interested in hosting a neighborhood event can contact the Hoquiam Police Department to get on the list.
