The Red Cross says this past weekend’s “Sound the Alarm” event to install smoke detectors was a huge success. The Daily World reports the event held Saturday had about 30 volunteers installing free smoke detectors in homes in parts of East Hoquiam and West Aberdeen. The week before, volunteers canvased the area to see who needed smoke alarms and this past weekend, 143 smoke detectors were installed in 57 homes. The Red Cross plans to hold another event like this in the spring.
