HEADS UP: Scammers Are Hitting Washington Roads

Watch your back, your front and the sides too while you're at it. In addition to internet scams, phone scams, credit card scams now comes the newest trend that's been lighting up here in Washington and that's roadside scams.

According to a news release from the WSP, they have been in contact with four suspects and are asking the public to be on the look out for possible scams and always report suspicious activity.

At times, people selling fake jewelry have allegedly stepped out into traffic to get drivers to pull over. The WSP warns that this type of roadway activity is unsafe due to them walking into freeways and ramps. Pedestrians are also not allowed on freeways and ramps.

Most of the time, the scammers will act like they are in distress or in need of help and then start in with the jewelry scam and that's when things turn more aggressive. Unfortunately, it's gotten to the point where I don't even think about pulling over to get out of my car for anyone...when in doubt, call 911.

None of these incidents have been near Grays Harbor but this is simply just a heads up for if you DO see something like this going down.
