Police Chief Steve Shumate presented the award to officer Brandi Slater for her heroic efforts during the call of a structure fire.
At this week’s Aberdeen City Council meeting, an Aberdeen police officer was presented with a Life Saving award for actions taking at a house fire earlier this year. Police Chief Steve Shumate presented the award to officer Brandi Slater for her heroic efforts during the call of a structure fire on January 13th. When officers Slater and David Terrance responded to the address given, they could not find a fire. As they searched the area, officer Slater found the house on fire, entered the smoke-filled house and helped two people still inside, one of which was a disabled elderly man, make it to safety. A congratulations goes out to Officer Slater for going above and beyond the call of duty.
