Drug Overdose Increases Causing Narcan Shortage

Paramedics say they’re needing more of the anti-overdose medicine Narcan.

As we head into the holiday season, the Hoquiam police department is warning the public about an increase in drug overdose calls due to the use of opioids, particularly Fentanyl. Paramedics say they’re needing more of the anti-overdose medicine Narcan. Also known as Naloxone, the drug temporarily blocks the effects of opioids. With more synthetic drugs showing up, Narcan is sometimes not enough to counteract the effects of an overdose. Go to the Hoquiam Police Facebook page to learn more about the growing problem in Grays Harbor.
