Elma Police Chief Susan J. Shultz has announced plans for her future as the department prepares to move into a new Public Safety Building later this year. In a letter to the community, Shultz highlights the significance of the new facility and thanks residents for their support during her nearly 11 years as chief. While the chief did not give a date for her retirement, she did mention that Elma voters will see a $225,000 replacement public safety levy on the August ballot, which would help maintain staffing and services. Shultz says she’s confident in the department’s direction and is focused on a smooth transition.
