Hoquiam will begin flushing fire hydrants next week as part of a preventative maintenance program to keep the city’s water system clean and reliable. The process starts the week of August 25th and will continue through late September, with crews working weekdays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. City officials say residents may notice discolored water or a temporary drop in water pressure when flushing occurs in their neighborhood. The water is safe but should be cleared by running cold taps for 15 minutes if discoloration is present.
