Ongoing Hydrant Flushing In Hoquiam

Customers may notice discolored water or a change in water pressure.

A reminder about the ongoing hydrant flushing in Hoquiam.  City officials say the preventative maintenance program that started last week happens annually and is done to help clean waterlines and check the operation of fire hydrants throughout the city.  Customers may notice discolored water or a change in water pressure when flushing is conducted in their area, and it’s recommended that you make sure the water is running clear before drinking or cooking with it.  The distribution system contains 61 miles of pipe, and the flushing should be finished by the end of June. Anyone with questions about the hydrant flushing can contact the city of Hoquiam’s public works department.
