More than 50 concerned citizens showed up in Olympia Friday on the 2nd anniversary of the last time 6 year old Oakley Carlson was seen alive. The gathering and peaceful protest to find girl that was officially reported missing in December of 2021, also served as a rally to support the Oakley Carlson Act. HB 1397, introduced by Aberdeen state rep Jim Walsh, who was also at Friday’s event, is said to add a layer of protection for children who were taken from their parents due to abuse, once the child and parent are reunited. Oakley’s biological parents remain prime suspects in her disappearance. This Friday the bill goes up for public comment in a state house committee meeting.
