Yards Of Trash From Other Counties Cleaned From Quinault Beaches

Rafts, air mattresses, Styrofoam and a folding table were among the items gathered in what is thought to be one of the only organized efforts to clean trash off these beaches.

Almost 30 cubic yards of debris was cleaned off of beaches on the Quinault Indian Reservation this past weekend. The Daily Worlds reports the two day effort by volunteers was able to gather truckloads of marine trash off beaches that are hard to access and off limits to non-tribal members. The trash was not from people using the beaches but can be traced back mostly to other counties. Rafts, air mattresses, Styrofoam and a folding table were among the items gathered in what is thought to be one of the only organized efforts to clean trash off these beaches. Volunteer groups say they have permission to clean up these beaches and plan for two events planned per year for the next 4 years.
