Former South Shore Mall Plant Moving Forward

Plans for a modular building assembly plant at Aberdeen’s former Shoppes at Riverside mall appear to be moving forward after a lengthy delay.

Plans for a modular building assembly plant at Aberdeen’s former Shoppes at Riverside mall appear to be moving forward after a lengthy delay. Mayor Douglas Orr and City Administrator Ruth Clemens recently toured the property with NetZero Development CEO Charles Cheung and reviewed plans for production space and robotics. The facility was initially projected to produce more than 1 million square feet of modular units annually and create over 300 jobs. Clemens said steel tariffs and work to establish a foreign-trade zone contributed to the delay.
