Aberdeen City Council Votes Unanimously On New Police Chief

The Aberdeen City Council voted unanimously this week on the city’s next police chief. Interim chief
Dale Green, who took over for retiring chief Shumate over the summer, has been with the department
since 1997 and has moved up through the ranks over the last 25 years. On Wednesday, following a
Personnel and Human Resources report, council members voted to make Green the permanent head of
the department. Before the vote, former chief Shumate, who was at the meeting, spoke in support of
Green taking over the lead of the department.
