Avian Influenza Found In Pacific County

The highly pathogenic bird flu was found in  a noncommercial, backyard late last week.

Avian Influenza has been found in Pacific County.  Washington state Department of Agriculture said the highly pathogenic bird flu was found in  a noncommercial, backyard late last week.  The noticed a high number of birds sick or dying and testing was performed on May 4th and the press release came out on Friday.  State officials say the property and birds are quarantined and will be euthanized the spread of the virus. As of Saturday, there was a second case of bird flu in the state, out in Spokane County.  Avian influenza  does not affect eggs or poultry meat and cases of people getting infected are rawer and there are no human cases of the virus in Washington state.
