Pacific County Emergency Management is urging residents to secure food and garbage following several black bear sightings. A South Bend homeowner reported a large bear raiding a garbage can on a porch along Second Street West. Other recent sightings were reported along Raymond-South Bend Road and on the Long Beach Peninsula. Officials recommend storing garbage inside until collection morning, removing bird feeders, collecting fallen fruit and cleaning grills. Residents should report non emergency sightings to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and call 911 for an immediate threat.
