A two-alarm house fire in Hoquiam yesterday closes down an elementary school today. The blaze was reported just before 5pm at home on third street. Officials say all the residents inside were able to escape and there were no reports of injuries to fire crews. A message was sent out to parents and staff that nearby Central Elementary school will be closed today. It seems smoke from the fire was able to get inside the building through the air systems and it will take a day to air out the campus from the smoke. All classes will resume tomorrow at Central Elementary, and no other school was affected. So far there is no word on what caused the house fire.
