Commissioner Vickie Raines Announces She Will Not Seek Re-Election

Raines was first elected to the Board of County Commissioners in District 3 and has served three terms.

After more than 26 years in local government, District 3 County Commissioner Vickie Raines has announced she will not seek a fourth term in office.

Raines said the decision came after “months of personal pondering” as well as encouragement from community members urging her to run again. Ultimately, she said, she felt the time was right to step aside at the end of her current term.

“I have gained so much during the last twenty-six years of elected service. It has been challenging and yet, very rewarding,” Raines said. “I am truly grateful for the experiences, the progress made and simply, the incredible opportunity to serve and work with amazing people in our county.”

Raines emphasized that she intends to remain focused on her work through the end of her term.

“There’s still work to do, so let’s get to it and bring on 2026!” she said.
