Hoquiam Has New Fire Chief

Council members voted unanimously to approve the new appointment.

The city of Hoquiam has named its next fire chief.  At this week’s regular city council meeting, council members voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Matt Miller to be the next head of the fire department.  Miller began his firefighting career with Hoquiam in 1999 holding many positions and ranks in the department during that time including most recently Assistant Fire Chief, a position he’s been in since 2020.   Miller has also served on the training committee and the Regional Fire Authority planning committee.  Miller will take over for retiring Aberdeen/Hoquiam Fire Chief Tom Hubbard, who recently announced he will be leaving on June 10th
